Sunderdhunga as the name itself defines the meaning, sunder means beautiful and Dunga means Stones. It is the center point where one can find plenty of marvelous stones and rocks at the highest elevation of 4100 meters. This trek point also referred as valleys of stones is located in Bageshwar district of Uttrakhand. It is known for its beautiful stones which are laid in artistic manner, trekkers go through this place for exploring this fascinating stones and the elegance of the scenery. This trek is a neighbor of the more famous Pindari and Kafni glacier treks is considered to be most beautiful trek of the three. Visiting this place is not an easy task as it is tough to access but it is certainly full of adventure and promise to see the vast picturesque. It lies on the right of Pindari glacier and has two stunning glaciers Maiktoli and Sukhram. As we mentioned above this trek is slight difficult as compare to Pindari and Kafni (both lies on way to this trek). The trek starts from Loharkhet and from here we reach Khati which is just 24 km from the Bageshwar. Days-1 : Arrive Delhi
After your arrival to Delhi, our representative will attend you then transfer to hotel for overnight halt.
Days-2 : Delhi – Almora (315 kms/8 hrs approx by car)
Early morning drive to Ranikhet via Kathgodam, Bhim Tal. Evening, arrival to Ranikhet, enjoy dinner during overnight stay at hotel.
Days-3 : Almora – Loharkhet (130 kms/2-3 hrs) – Dhakuri (2680 mts / 8844 ft)
After breakfast, drive to Loharkhet, from here trek to Dhakuri will get start. A climb to the valley of Dhakuri with total 11 km of trek today. Overnight stay in rest house/tents, dinner will serve.
Days-4 : Dhakuri – Khati (2210 mts/7293 ft)
On the banks of the Pinder Ganga, trek to khati is 8 km. One of the prime village khati is known for its kind gesture and good hospitability by locals. It is total 8 km of treks.
Days-5 : Khati – Jatoli (2000 mts/6600 ft) 8 kms/5hrs
Heading to Jatoli village in the morning, River Pinder will accompany you throughout this trek from Khati to Warbham- a place where streams like Sunderdhunga and Pinder meets. At Jatoli crossing, dinner and overnight stay in camps.
Days-6 : Jatoli – Kathalia (3206 mts/14300 ft) 12 kms/5 hrs
In the midst of thick alpine forest a journey of 12 km, where you will come across River Saria. Overnight stay in tents in Kathalia location.
Days-7 : Kathalia – Sukhram Cave – Sunderdunga View Point (3900 mts/12870 ft)
Today we will commence trek of 10 kms in 4-5 hours. Early morning, trek will start up for Sunderdunga view point passes crossing Sukhram Cave. Set out camp for overnight stay and enjoy the dinner upon arrival.
Days-8 : Kathalia – Maiktoli Top 4320 mts/14256 ft)
Following breakfast begins a trek of 4 kms steep climb to reach Maiktoli top, a place to feel the touch of heaven. Upon returning to Kathalia, dinner and night halt.
Days-9 : Kathalia – Jatoli (12 kms/5 hrs)
Upon reaching back to Jatoli, take rest in tents and have dinner.
Days-10 : Jatoli – Khati (8 kms/4 hrs)
Trek back to Khati, night stay with dinner.
Days-11 : Khati – Dhakuri (8 kms/4 hrs)
Welcome morning to trek back to Dhakuri, have rest in tents for overnight in the surrounding of silence and take pleasure in having dinner.
